2020 Kuhn for sale in AgriVision Equipment, Clarinda, Iowa

About Us

AgriVision Equipment Group was formed on January 1, 2014, with the merger of A&M Green Power Group and Barker Implement. The merger completed the consolidation of four long-time, family-owned John Deere dealerships that cover Southwest and South Central Iowa, into one operating unit.

AgriVision Equipment is owned by the five former dealerships: Athen Implement, Barker Implement, Macedonia Implement Co., McCunn Equipment, Pender Implement and our CEO Jeremy Ostrander. The multi-generational relationships of the five dealership families (Athen, Barker, McCready, McCunn, and Allen) have made this a natural fit.

Today, AgriVision Equipment Group is a 17 location John Deere Ag, Turf, Commercial Application and Commercial Worksite Products dealership with an area of responsibility that includes Western Iowa, Northwest Missouri and Eastern Nebraska. Dealerships are located in Clarinda, Creston, Hamburg, Lawton, Le Mars, Lenox, Leon, Macedonia, Massena, Missouri Valley, Onawa,  Pacific Junction, Paullina,  Red Oak, Sioux Center and Winterset, Iowa and Pender, Nebraska. The company’s headquarters are located near Pacific Junction, Iowa along Interstate 29 at the US HWY 34 exit at the southern edge of the Omaha, Nebraska metro area.

A&M Green Power Group, LC was formed in June 2006 with the merger of two of the area's oldest and largest John Deere dealerships: Athen Implement, Inc. and Macedonia Implement Co. The two families along with Jeremy Ostrander united to form A&M Green Power Group. At the time of the merger, the dealerships in Malvern and Red Oak, Iowa were acquired from Southwest Iowa Equipment to form a four-store dealership group. In 2007, McCunn Equipment in Massena, Iowa merged with A&M Green Power and the John Deere dealership in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Cass County Implement. Cass County was purchased from the Hauptman family bringing the total dealership locations to six. In 2010, a new, state of the art facility was constructed at the intersection of Interstate 29 and US HWY 34 exit outside of Pacific Junction, Iowa. Thus, the locations in Malvern, Iowa, and Plattsmouth, Nebraska were consolidated into the new facility and became the headquarters for A&M Green Power Group.

Barker Implement was founded in 1936 by Ken and Doris Barker when they purchased the local John Deere dealership in Lenox, IA. from EE Reynolds. In 1948, Ken built a new store on the north edge of Lenox where the dealership is currently located. Ken's son Lonnie and wife Billie Jean began their career with the company in 1958 after Lonnie returned home from the Army. Lonnie continued as President until 1999. From 1948 until 1963 they also sold Chrysler and Dodge automobiles and trucks. Minneapolis Moline equipment was also sold from the 1940s until the 1960s. Around this same time, John Deere introduced the "New Generation of Power" tractors. This latest line of tractors from Deere opened more opportunities for a new generation of customers and this led the team to decide it was best to focus solely on John Deere.

Lonnie and Billie Jean’s son Todd joined the business in 1984 along with their daughter, Lahni Jean Robinson in 1986. In 1992, they were joined by other third-generation family members, Bob and Lyn Irr. Barker Implement’s growth began as they purchased the Creston, Iowa John Deere dealership in 1991 from Jay and Beth Perry. Under the leadership of the third generation, Todd Barker and Bob Irr helped lead the two-store dealership’s growth to 8 locations in 2009. In 2014, Barker Implement merged with A&M Green Power to form AgriVision Equipment Group and the fourth generation of the Barker families remain deeply involved in the business.

Macedonia Implement Company was started in 1899 by Charles McCready on Main street in Macedonia, Iowa. The store sold both John Deere and McCormick Deering farm implements, along with other farm supplies such as buggies, harnesses, and windmills. Later Overland and Dodge cars were added. The decision to go with John Deere or McCormick Deering eventually had to be made and the choice was John Deere. That single decision became a good one for five generations of the McCready family. Charles' son Ralph (Cubby) was the second generation to run the operation, his son Tom was the third and the fourth generation, Shoan McCready, joined the family business in 1975. Shoan's wife Melinda joined the team in 1984 and his brother Brien in 1984. Today the fifth generation still remains heavily involved in the business.

Athen Implement traces its beginning to January 10, 1941, when Orville Athen purchased the John Deere dealership in Hamburg, Iowa from J.E. Good & Company. Orville started working in the dealership in 1936 to help pay out of state tuition to attend high school in Hamburg since he lived across the state line in Missouri. In 1941 at the age of 22, he purchased the Hamburg location and is believed to be the youngest person to be awarded a new John Deere contract. Orville's wife, Jean joined him in 1943 and worked side by side with him. Orville’s son Don joined the business in 1972 joined by his wife, Jody in 1975. Today, the third generation of the Athen family is actively involved in the business.

The history of the McCunn family begins with brothers Lowell and Don McCunn when they began their careers as engineers at John Deere Waterloo Works. Lowell and Don purchased the John Deere dealership in Greenfield, Iowa in October 1964 from Harvey Conrad. Don moved to Massena in 1972 to operate a service center for the Greenfield location. In 1976 the Massena location became a separate full dealership operated by Don and formed McCunn Equipment, Co. Randy McCunn joined his father and mother, Ardell, in the business in 1975, and later was joined by his wife Nancy in 1976 and his brother Kevin in 1980. Today, the third generation of the McCunn family is also actively involved in the business.

Pender Implement was founded in 1966 after the town of Pender, NE had been without a John Deere dealership following the closing of Benson Hardware a year earlier. Russ Allen became a partner in the business in 1981 along with his wife, Laurie, and they became the sole owners of the business in 1996. Russ’s son Reed joined the business in 2012 following two years with John Deere as a Financial Analyst in Moline, IL, and Greeneville, TN. Reed became the sole owner of the business in 2016 and decided to merge the business with AgriVision Equipment in 2018. Reed and his wife, Heidi, have four young children that they hope will also be actively involved in the business in the future.

Jeremy Ostrander is the other founding member of A&M Green Power Group and is the CEO of AgriVision Equipment Group. Jeremy is a 1995 graduate of Kansas State University. Jeremy spent 8 years working with Deere and Company in product development, planning, and marketing for the Seeding Division and as a Territory Manager in central Illinois before joining the dealership world. In 2004, Jeremy came to southwest Iowa and worked with Athen Implement and facilitated the original merger that formed A&M Greenpower. Jeremy has been an integral part of the merger and growth that AgriVision Equipment has experienced. Under the leadership of Jeremy and the efforts of the ownership families, AgriVision Equipment is recognized as one of the leading John Deere dealership organizations in North America.

AgriVision Equipment Group has a long and storied history spanning three centuries. Since the original merger in 2006, AgriVision Equipment has been recognized yearly by John Deere as a "Leaders Club" dealership. This award is only rewarded to the top dealerships in North America based on the criteria set by John Deere. What has set the organization apart is the long history of being a customer-focused organization dedicated to supporting customers, being adaptable and being on the leading edge of technology. Today, AgriVision Equipment, along with John Deere, is well-positioned to support our customers for many more generations into the future.
